Equipped
with a Masters degree from the US in Theatre and TV, Anita returned to
Chennai from New York after a ten year tenure as a successful TV producer
and commentator with works which included the highly acclaimed Festival
of India's TV series.
Her productions reflect a unique ability to combine the classical and contemporary, presenting Indian traditions in new avatars for modern audiences. In a quest for universal harmony, she explores the full range of classical and contemporary dance, spanning east-west rhythms, purity and promiscuity, space-time equations and gender issues. As a dancer Anita's movements are not bound by tradition, as she uses dance as a springboard to innovate, experiment, and provoke fresh thought. Anita's imagination goes beyond the confines of her classical Indian dance training. |
