 Here is the reason for the light footwork:

The foot work on that day was very much lighter and not firmer, because that day she was wearing a new set of "Salangai Anklets" made of velvett colth. More than
20 salangas fell out and got scattered all over the
stage and she got injured on over 10 to 12 spots on both of her soles. In two places the skin got laccerated and contusions made her struggle with the footings and
that was the reason for her light footed dancing. Literaly tears roalled out of my eyes when I saw her with such injuries. After the performance was over I found her
weeping"
