 Jahnvi,

As far as talent and skills go, I think Medha is right at the very top! The vigour and enthusiasm she displays in every movement is exceptional and is what moves my heart...I must admit, it's not often we come across such beauty and grace in a performance.

In my humble opinion, I feel, Medha, like any other top-class dancer, has her own shortcomings. However, with her extraordinary talent and passion, I'm dead sure she will overcome some of these minor errors that could catch the eye of a critic perhaps later in the future.

Everyone must know all about how wonderfully she dances, right?! (If not, view her videos at www.medhahari.com) I personally don't think anyone can dismiss her as a "bad" dancer, but I'm sure people may find fault with her "style" of dancing.

For example:
1. While executing nritta or a pose, she always seems like she is aiming for a "cute and sweet" look (a look that seems more enticing and coquettish than necessary)...

2. She somehow lets Sringara dominate her dance throughout, I mean, even while expressing the Bhakthi soaked Sahitya (I guess she is only a young girl, and expecting her to portray deeper and involved abhinaya is asking too much...!)

3. Her dance choreography is superb and very innovative, complex, and fast-paced ....but I don't know if it is sticking to a "traditional" format even 80% of the time (Again, people may have different ideas about what is "tradition", but this is just my thought).

4. Her expressions flow smoothly and very realistically, but I sometimes feel they are irrelevant at places. Her focus seems to be only on bowling the audience over, rather than conveying the meaning of the Sahitya faithfully.

5. In the Theermana adavu, she completely stand up for the "dit-dit-thai". It gets kind of obvious, because otherwise, her araimandi is beautiful and well-turned out.

6. Perhaps due to the frenzied tempo of the songs, her "Angasuddham" in Nritta is minimal as compared to her static poses.

I think these are only a few of her petty "erasable" errors, that catch my eye.
But if she is able to get rid of these tiny flaws, Medha Hari will soon become a legendary name in the field of Bharatanatyam!
