 dear pallavi g
i am apalled that you think that the schools who put their students on the stage are worthy of mention. It just goes to show that the three gurus whom you mention are supposedly those whom you and your friends seem to endorse. I completely disagree - not with your choice but with your statements. The present quality of group work is apalling in chennai and the best group work DOES NOT COME OUT OF ANY OF THE THREE SCHOOLS THAT YOU MENTION. If watching your darling daughter on stage is the only criterion - and that too within one year - it only reaffirms what i have been saying all this time. Bharatanatyam is not about learning the art form any more. It is about dressing up and showing off to your family and friends for photo opportunitites. Srilata Vinod is not only a wonderful dancer, she is a deeply involved teacher and a human being. Putting a student on stage in one year is a travesty of the art form.It should be forbidden! You dont seem to be bothered about anything but speed and the resulting invisible component - GREED!
