TAKING VISION ACROSS…” Mumbai based dancer, choreographer Prakriti Bhaskar
to conduct “Nritta- Nattuvangam Workshop (Module III)
in the city & present “ISHWARA”-a Bharata Natyam Ensemble by the Participants.


Dancer Choreographer Prakriti Bhaskar director of the well known art & cultural organization in Mumbai Shiladhish Art & Research Institute has been invited by the prestigious Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata to conduct Nritta Nattuvangam Workshop (Module III) for senior dance students of the city.

The 10 day intensive workshop (12th- 22nd April 2006) is the concluding module in the 3 series and feature training in Nattuvangam, Rhythmic Choreography. In the past 3 years Prakriti has been regularly invited by reputed cultural organizations EZCC, WEST BENGAL DANCE GROUP FEDERATION, STATE MUSIC ACEDEMY Kolkata and has trained nearly 40 senior dance students in the unique system of cross rhythm choreography & nattuvangam. The workshops have been highly appreciated by the dance fraternity.

On the 23rd April 2006, the participants of the workshop will present a 1½ Hr. performance at the Rabindra Sadan Auditorium. The presentation is a Bharata Natyam ensemble titled “ISHWARA” conceived & choreographed by Prakriti.

‘The workshop is a tribute to my Guru Talavidwan Kalaimamani T.S Kadhirvelu Pillai. To be able to take his vision & insights to talented dancers across geographical boundaries has been a challenging & fulfilling experience. I hope to take it across the globe since dance is a living tradition & works of great maestro such as my Guru must be passed on so that they continue to guide & inspire every creative talent’ concludes Prakriti with a gleam of joy & pride in her eyes.
