I was curious to know what the going rate is to gain a spot performing at major sabhas for the season in Chennai. It's a known phenomenon from what I hear.
Also-- I've heard rumors that titles are often purchased by artists (the Nritya Choodamani title awarded by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha comes to mind-- whether or not the artists recieving them truly deserve the title is a whole other issue altogether). And speaking of titles, it never ceases to amaze me who has still not figured on the list of Padma awardees (namely the Dhananjayans, among others).
