Concerned Parent,

What you have written is very confusing to me. Are you distinguishing between, gurus, sponsors, and (sponsor) musicians? You say (sponsor) musicians make the chunk of the money, but you also say that sponsors enjoy the big cut and then share with the gurus.

I am also speaking from personal experience. We paid a set amount to the orchestra, dictated by the guru (or the guru's dance school organization... or sponsor). There was no mention of negotiation. All the fee allocations were laid out in a contract set forth by the guru's organization. We even checked with other parents who had hired the same orchestra-- they paid the same. I think we may have even paid the musicians more on the side... whatever we could afford. I'm not negating your experience, but simply telling you what we encountered. Different gurus/orchestras may work in different ways.
