Hi. I would just like to give my the thougts on the Arangetram. As the person-concerned parent- wrote, Sabhas do want to know that a student has done an arangetram before letting them perform. As a dancer, I think doing my arangetram was necessary and well worth the time/money/training involved. Yes, it is true that you can just start dancing for an event as your first performance-possibly. As far the arangetrams being meaningless, I know many students/friends who worked very hard and really wanted their technique and abhinaya to be good and you can tell that they put a lot of work into it. So, there is an effort by students not to just do it just because they can. Though there may be cases of students simply doing it becuase they can. Just my thoughts-arangetrams should not be something easily dismissed.
