Natya is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications to its unique 12-month Diploma in Choreography. Designed for todayís dancer, it offers training in traditional dance disciplines along with emerging trends in global movement vocabularies. The Program seeks to nurture the creative abilities of dance students in a specially designed curriculum that provides comprehensive study of the art of choreography, world dance, dance history, anthropology, production design, dance aesthetics, and art history, taught by eminent artists, industry experts, and scholars. Natyaís program encourages students to explore new directions in dance education, performance, and interface.

The Natya Institute for Kathak & Choreography was founded in 1964 by legendary Guru Dr. Maya Rao under the aegis of UNESCO. It has since been a leader in dance education and performance in India. Today, its uniqueness lies in combining traditional dance methodology with modern pedagogy techniques to produce new generations of choreographers, dancers, and scholars.
Natya functions as an academy for the study of Kathak as well as a diploma-granting institution for professional training in choreography. Natya & STEM Dance Kampni is the performance unit, and is recognized as one of Indiaís premier dance companies in the idioms of contemporary dance, Kathak, and the traditional arts. Established by Madhu Nataraj, the Kampni has toured over thirty-six countries in various performance and choreographic contexts, and engages in outreach projects that reclaim the public domain through dance.
