Workshop with Xiao Ke & Zi Han

This workshop with Chinese performance artists Xiao Ke and Zi Han leads participants to build up a performance from a state of non-rehearsal to organic physical presentation. The challenge is to give up detailed rehearsals but follow real physical presentation to create a live theatre performance. The workshop techniques include developing an organic body language; building relationships; individual and collective crossing over; and physical theatre dramaturgy.
Appropriate for professional and amateur performers who focus on physical performance such as dancers, actors, live arts performers or musicians. The participants should be 16+, and happy with physical movement.

Xiao Ke has been pioneering the road for performance art as physical art and contemporary social theatre responding to the contemporary reality in China. As the member of Zuhe Niao, she won the ZKB Award in Zurich Theater Spektakel in 2006.
Zi Han engages in comprehensive visual art and live music for theatre. His works includes photography, video, contemporary art and sound.
The collaborative works between Xiao Ke and Zi Han involve photography, video, live art and installations that focus on personal body exploring the extreme of expression under the public context in China. Their works have been invited to different art and dance festivals and theatres in more than 20 countries across Europe and Asia.
This workshop is co-presented by Pickle Factory Dance Foundation and Padatik Theatre.
