Rani Khanam and her husband Syed Sallauddin Pasha have evolved mystic movements of Sufiana Kathak. For the first time in the country, they will be imparting knowledge of Sufiana Kathak through their workshops and regular training. This dynamic duo performed Sufiana compositions for the former Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohammed, The King and Queen of Malaysia, and for International Sufi Festival held at London. ![]() Sufiana Kathak is a Sufi Therapy. It heals and leads towards the mystic love of the Almighty. This first of its kind innovation involves ritualistic dance movements, which connects God with mystic music and innovative movements and has been developed over the past 20 years by Rani and Pasha. Rani Khanam herself dared to dance for Islamic verses in Kathak many years ago. From ancient times, concept of Nirvana is common with the rishis and it is the same with Sufi's Fana. Merging of soul with god through the mystic dance music dates back BCA. It is believed that Shams Tabrizi (Rumi's Guru) meditation practice is similar to an Indian sadhu's. Reaching god through the divine dance is part of ritual in the classical dance forms of India. Born as Muslims, both Rani and Pasha have studied the Koran in depth and practiced Islam, and are now a major force in Indian classical dance over a career spanning 32 years. Sufiana Kathak is a unique blend
and innovation of mystic movements developed through years of hard work
and practice. Sufiana Kathak includes mystic Islamic Verses, Persian and
Indian Sufi poetry reading, understanding and choreography of movement.
Sufiana movements tune the whole body, which leads to balance of body and
mind. Sufi Therapy heals the sick, reduces weight, brings peace of mind.
Simple Sufiana Kathak movements have been developed for beginners and professional
choreographed movements for professional dancers.
