The Bharatantyam arangetram of Archana Balajee and Shruti Balajee, disciples of Suryanarayanamurthy, took place at VDS Arts Academy, MOP Vaishnav College for women, Chennai on April 29, 2001 at 6.30pm. Suryanarayanamurthy did the nattuvangam, with Aravindakshan on vocal, Dhananjayan on mridangam, Seetharama Sarma on violin and Sunil Kumar on flute.

Anahita Sarabai, daughter of Mallika Sarabai gave her Bharatanatyam debut performance at Natarani on April 22, 2001. She has been taught by V Balagurnathan and Gayathri Balagurunathan. Puroshottam accompanied her on Gottuvadyam, Jayan Nair on vocal, Palanivelu on mridangam, and Shastri on flute.
