
Sai Arts International presents Suparna Venkatesh and visually challenged dancers of Articulate in Maha Shakthi July 29, 2008 Bangalore July 23, 2008 Maha Shakthi is a 90 minute dance feature delineating on the Indian thought, that the supreme Goddess, energy personified, works in three stages in every one of us. As Gnana Shakthi she energizes as thought, Icchha Shakthi as desire and Kriya Shakthi as action. Man identifies his inner energy as external deities and awakens what’s dormant in him to become a deity himself. A spiritual experience through the medium of dance, eulogizing the triple energy of thought, desire and action. Five visually
challenged dancers of Articulate are part of this dance drama. Performed
in Bharatanatyam style, the production is embellished with Mohiniattam,
Kuchipudi, Kathak and Yakshagana. The visually challenged artists perform
the ritualistic dances and as narrators of the dance drama, introduce the
Goddess Mahashakthi and her 3 manifestations a Maha Lakashmi, Maha Saraswati
and Maha Kali.
Stage crafts, costumes and coiffeurs are as per Shilpa Shastra. Colors and make-up are in accordance with the Chitra Sutra. Rituals that sanctify the space of performance, adaptation of temple practices calling upon the gods of the cardinal directions to protect the performance from any interruption is per the Natya Shastra.
