Sampradaya Dance Creations brings together the best in South Asian dance
DanceIntense Toronto 2010
From July 5 - July 17, 2010
At York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

DanceIntense Toronto 2010, a specialized, two-week dance training and residency program for emerging South Asian dancers, will come to life at York University from July 5 to July 17, 2010. Proudly produced by Sampradaya Dance Creations for a second year, DanceIntense will bring together acclaimed International and Canadian dance professionals and a talented group of selected emerging artists for an enriching dance experience.

The DanceIntense program offers a unique opportunity for emerging dancers, ranging in age from 19 to 35 years old, from Canada, the United States and Singapore to work with accomplished Master Teachers and dance professionals to share their knowledge, skill and passion for two weeks of intense body conditioning, choreography and dance-related workshops.

Lata Pada, Artistic Director, Sampradaya Dance Creations has once again gathered together an outstanding group of Master Teachers including notable international artists such as: Kumudini Lakhia (Kathak), Priyadarsini Govind (Bharatanatyam), Navtej Singh Johar (Yoga and Bharatanatyam) and Shaji K. John (Kalaripayattu), and Canadian artists Natasha Bahkt (Contemporary), Nova Bhattacharya (Contemporary) and Bakari E Lindsay (African-Caribbean).

DanceIntense truly is an intense experience. From the moment the audition notice is posted looking for the most committed and talented dancers - there are only 20 coveted spots available to work with some of the best Master Teachers globally. From morning to night, dancers will be put to the test both physically and mentally - challenged at every turn to learn new dance concepts, movements and choreography from the most seasoned professionals. Together, they will share common struggles and exhilarating triumphs among like-minded peers and instructors for this important dance training program.
“We are delighted at the caliber of participants and the tremendous support we have received from our local and international dance communities. DanceIntense continues to raise the bar of professional standards in dance with the coming together of Master Teachers and emerging artists to share in a common dialogue – their passion and dedication to dance,” said Lata Pada.
