Kartik Fine Arts presents
Lotuses blossom: The Creative Process
14th Natya Darshan Dance Symposium
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
December 18 - 21, 2014 Chennai

November 10, 2014

This Performance Symposium is a movement towards celebrating the abundance of creative possibilities. It is driven by the need to recognize the potent creative mind of the artist. In these 3 days we hope to highlight the deeper thought patterns of creativity.  What is it that makes choreography more evocative, a translation more intense, a film more resonant, a talk more engaging. To look, listen and reflect on the dazzling array of imaginative ideas that come to life in performance.

The theme for this conference is Lotuses Blossom - The Creative Process. It is centered on the single phrase ‘Ullasita Vikasat Sarasijam – The Lotus Blossoms.’ Each evening there will be an exploration of this idea.  Artists, scholars, writers, dancers will come together to reflect on myths and symbols in Indian art and also unravel the creative process from within.

Like the tightly closed bud opening out with the push of the life force, the symposium will unfold with the extension of creative possibilities.

Announcement
Kartik Fine Arts has over several years been presenting the Natya Darshan seminar as an important segment of their Chennai December Season.  It is in  recognition of the value of classical dance and the role it plays in our cultural environment. This seminar is for the dance fraternity as a whole and all others who are interested and wish to understand more about Indian classical dance.

This year, KFA would like to encourage the participation of more dancers. Hence they plan the following:

(1) Dancers can register for the 3 day Dance Symposium with an Id on 19th morning at the venue. Their participation on a continued basis will be registered.

(2) From these participants, 25 of them will get complimentary passes (on a first come first served basis) for the evening concerts, thus supporting their interest in seeing the entire Dance Symposium.

(3) From these participants a few will be invited to participate in the December Season 2015 for the KFA Festival. This will be done on a selection basis by the KFA Committee.
