SARNGADEVA SAMAROH is being organized by Mahagami every year in the land where the great musicologist SARNGADEVA created the treatise Sangeeta Ratnakara with an aim to reconnect with the glorious cultural past of this region and to establish the relevance of the text with present day performing arts. ‘Sangeet’ is a composite term with ‘Gayan-Vadan-Nritta’ together. SARNGADEVA SAMAROH with SARNGADEVA PRASANGA is the only mainstream dance and music festival in the region of Marathwada in Maharashtra. The festival will comprise performances of some of the renowned artists as well as established thinker-artists with focus on the Sangeeta Ratnakara and other ancient traditions. Many scholars, gurus, musicologists will present research papers and give lec-dem highlighting various aspects of the text with each form of music during the morning sessions. The festival is expected to cater to the artistic and academic quests of more than 5000 rasikas and music and dance-aspirants. Students, researchers, teachers of any stream of Indian art will benefit from the seminar, the lec-dem and evening performances.
