Attakkalari India Biennial

The next edition of the ATTAKKALARI INDIA BIENNIAL, South Asia's largest international contemporary dance and digital arts festival, will be held from 6th to 15th February 2015. This edition of the Biennial is conceived around the theme DANCE CONNECT and true to this idea, will strive to foster new connections in producing, presenting and receiving contemporary dance locally and globally. Over the last six editions, the Attakkalari India Biennial has managed to develop audiences for Contemporary Dance throughout South Asia through its many strategic and imaginative initiatives and interventions.


 
The Biennial will feature leading dance companies from China, Germany, France, UK, Korea, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Sri Lanka and India as well as works by 17 emerging choreographers.

The month long FACETS International Choreography Residency (5 January to 5 February, 2015) leads up to the Biennial. As part of this unique residency, ten emerging choreographers create original performance works under the mentorship of many leading international experts in choreography, dramaturgy, lighting, composition, digital arts etc., which will then be premiered in the Biennial on 7 and 8 February. Also 7 emerging choreographers from South Asia region will present their works as part of “PLATFORM 15: Emerging South Asia” on 9 and 10 February. There will also be master classes, discussions, meet the artist sessions etc. as part of the Biennial.

Held over 10 days in multiple venues across Bangalore, ATTAKKALARI INDIA BIENNIAL will animate Bangalore's cultural life while making a substantial contribution to the performing arts scene in India. The programs will be held at Ranga Shankara (JP Nagar), Chowdiah Memorial Hall (Vyalikaval) and Alliance Francaise de Bangalore (Thimmiah Rd, Vasanth Nagar)
