Padmalaya Dance Foundation presents an evening of Dance, Theatre and Poetry titled SAVITRI “Narratives of the Heart”, a solo dance-theatre production presented by Janani Murali.

Drawing from the rich treasures of mythology and Indian regional literature, SAVITRI addresses the audience in the language of Bharatanatyam. Drawing parallels in myth and contemporary thought, SAVITRI opens up a dialogue between the two. 

The Artiste: Janani Murali trained in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of her mother Padma Murali for more than 25 years. Currently the Associate Artistic Director of Padmalaya Dance Foundation, she has to her credit performances across India and countries in Europe and USA. The recipient of awards such as the Nritya Shironmani and Padmavati Puraskar, Janani takes her love for dance beyond performances. Her accomplishments as a voice-over artiste, as a contributing author to reputed art journals, as a commentator on ‘Society and Art’ and as a speaker at conclaves on Art, are noteworthy.
