Ashish Mohan Khokar’s
Attendance annual awards
Alliance Francaise, 6pm
December 14, 2016 Bangalore

November 23, 2016

Attendance is India's only yearbook on dance, now in its 18th year. For past 5 years 5 awards are given as industry benchmarks for those:
1. who have 20 years of work behind and have potential for 20 more (so are midlife)
2. are serious, academic and consistent in artistic output
3. will enhance our society, artistically.

The awards are ALTERNATIVE AWARDS IN DANCE. These carry no customary cheque or shining shawls. Instead, the awardee is helped reach out NATIONALLY (3 shows in parts of India they have never been to) and in one case INTERNATIONALLY (internship with a dance co. abroad).

75% of awards are for Bangaloreans, rest for south India. The idea is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. The awards are named after iconic names in dance, some totally forgotten.
