Remembering Veenapani Festival
Feb 3 - 26, 2017 Pondicherry
January 31, 2017
Adishakti presents the 3rd edition of the Remembering Veenapani Festival starting 3rd February until 26th February over the weekends, starting at 7pm.
‘Remembering Veenapani’ will platform commendable performances on all four weekends of February. This month-long weekend festival is held in the memory of Veenapani Chawla who invested 25 years of time and effort to create an ideal space that welcomes artists from across cultures to realise their creative aspirations. As artists who have had a direct impact of her work, Adishakti members wish to celebrate this with you.
The festival will open with the eloquent performance called ‘Indian Steam’ by Prodigal Theatre and the Urban Playground Team from UK. Steam is a touring performance, in which a group of urban explorers discover, beneath canvas tarps, the skeletal remains of a machine that changed the world. Inspired by classic movie genre Steam takes the watcher on a whistle stop tour through silent movies, the Wild West, James Bond, WWI and the dark future of inner city commuting. Local children will create new scenes for the show that they will play alongside the performers.
At: Adishakti, Edayanchavadi Road, Diagonally Opposite to Hope, Auroville Post, Vanur Taluk, Pondicherry 605101, 7pm
