An exceptionally gifted dancer & choreographer, Shashidharan Nair has devoted 5 decades to his love and pursuit of dance. Shashidharan mastered several dance forms under luminaries of the Indian dancing world - Kathakali under Kalamandalam K. Padmanabhan Nair and the legendary Kavungal Sankaran Kutty Paniker; Mayurbhanj Chhau under the great Guru Krishna Chandra Naik; Creative genre of Indian dance pioneered by Uday Shankar under veteran choreographers Prabhat Ganguly& Gul Bardhan; Traditional dance forms of India under distinguished choreographer Yog Sunder Desai; Kalaripayattu under Narayanan Embranthiri with a fellowship awarded by the Ministry of HRD; Modern Dance, Improvisation and Choreography with eminent American choreographers.
Shashidharan explored the martial forms of Kerala with the Senior Fellowship awarded by the Ministry of Culture. Pursuing dance professionally for the last 40 years, he has been associated with Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra for over 3 decades where he created highly popular and critically acclaimed dance productions - Tripurantak, Chakravyuha, Parikrama, Meera, Krishna Katha, Ram, Dance of Shiva, Shree Durga. Shashidharan has directed Sampurna Ramayana, a mega production with a cast of 70 on a stage of 140 feet held during Dushera for the last two years. He has featured with some of the leading choreographers of India in Sangeet Natak Akademiís Choreography Festivals. His work has travelled to many countries under the sponsorship of ICCR. Shashidharan is a leading name among his contemporaries at the forefront of the world of choreography.
