Story of a Devadasi & Court Musician
Nagarathnamma, popularly known as Bangalore Nagarathnamma, was a famous Devadasi and a Court Musician, an empowered woman who fought with rigid societal Brahmanical groups to build a mandapa (temple) on the samadhi of Saint Tyagaraja. The story is presented through Tyagaraja's Pancharatna Kritis.
About the Director:
Kanaka Sudhakar is a Bharatanatyam exponent, founder president, SUNAINA, Society for the Upliftment of National Arts of India. She has trained hundreds of students in Bharatanatyam and created many innovative and traditional dance productions. Her work for the past three decades has been lauded by critics and rasikas alike.
