The Chennai-based artists' collective Basement 21, investigating contemporary thought and action in various disciplines of arts, together with Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Chennai and Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council, is presenting the third season of March Dance, an annual contemporary dance festival. This year, in this exclusive dance festival, they try to bring in a different perspective to the contemporary dance scene in Chennai by inviting two eminent performers and also organizing workshops, which explore creation of performances, instigating deep enquiry into the creative process.
The program includes performances by:
March 10 @ 7pm: UNSICHTBARST by critically acclaimed choreographer and performer Anna Huber from Switzerland. She will take the viewers through a reconstruction of a solo as a way to begin with nothing and allow the body to reveal its meaning. There will also be a public conversation with the choreographer on March 11 at 5:30pm.
March 14 & 15 @ 7pm: LOOSE WOMAN by veteran performer Maya Krishna Rao, who brings her distinct language of improvised performance, while sharing her unique modes of building a language of the body that is subversive and strong. A public conversation with the artist will take place on March 16 at 5:30pm.
Donor passes of INR 200 are available Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Chennai.
