The Kirans have been invited by 'SERENDIPTY ARTS FESTIVAL' to present their highly acclaimed dance production 'MAANINI' on the 16th of December 2019 at D B Grounds, Goa.
Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF) is one of the largest multi-disciplinary arts initiatives in the South Asian region and it is an honour and privilege for them to present their work at this festival.
MAANINI - conceptualised and directed by Kiran Subramanyam - has been staged at many prestigious platforms throughout the country and has won critical acclaim from masses and classes alike.
MAANINI is a presentation that looks at Bharatanatyam from a different perspective. Group choreography is used to expressively communicate abstract concepts as also to make the presentation visually delightful. The production 'is an attempt at breaking away from conventional methods of viewing Bharatanatyam.
As a theme, MAANINI explores the intriguing yet exquisite concept of Ashtanayikas from Indian classical art and literature. Keeping the tenets of the Bharatanatyam format unchanged, MAANINI brings the eight Nayikas, one after the other progressively, to describe the phases of emotion of a woman in love. And then it asks - Has the expression of love changed with the times? Can the passage of time ever affect how a woman feels, when she is in love? MAANINI explores the expressions of love, through the reflections of time.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the River Mandovi, MAANINI takes stage on the 16th of December, at D B Grounds, Panaji, from 7pm to 8pm.
