A two-day intensive seminar by the Kalakshetra Foundation as an extension of its 65th Annual Art Festival. Curated by Revathi Ramachandran, Director, Kalakshetra Foundation, the seminar features a slew of sessions across subjects that will interest and enrich both a student and an aspirant of arts as well as a rasika. The sessions will be conducted across beautiful spaces within the Kalakshetra campus – the banyan tree and the Craft Centre - by a host of hand-picked academicians, scholars, artistes and educators.

KADAMBA: THE FLOWERING PATH, the title of the NATYA DARSHAN conference organized by Kartik Fine Arts has interesting presentations by legends, senior dancers, young budding artistes and artistes from allied fields. The conference concentrates on how Bharatanatyam has evolved, the purpose and relevance of Bharatanatyam . A peek into the past, whilst looking at the present to see how the future unfolds. A dancer cannot stand alone with her knowledge of technique and nuances of Natyam - she needs to have musicality, knowledge of sculptures, appreciate poetry, get inspired by a painting....." natyesmin yenna drishyate" says Bharata. The pre-events of the conference start from 19th December, inauguration is on the 21st December and the conference is for two days - 22nd and 23rd December 2018.

Anitha Guha and Bharathanjali

Anitha Guha's Bharathanjali in association with Aim for Seva presents NANDALALA.
NANDALALA is a  nrithya natakam that chronicles the life of  lord Krishna. It will give the  audience the charming night hued lord through mellifluous  compositions of ancient composers like Oothukaadu Venkatasubaiyar, Purandaradasa, Annamacharya, Surdas, Narayanatheertha, Meera and  Jayadeva along with those penned by current day vidwans like Neyveli Santhana Gopalan, PR Venkatasubramanian, and Dandibotla Narayanamurthy. This multilingual  production includes seven languages - Sanskrit, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi. Different styles of dance used are folk, Kathak, Kuchipudi, shades of Kathakali and Mohiniattam apart from Bharatanatyam. It was presented by 14 dancers in the US; now for the Chennai audience 20 dancers participate.
