If you find a really good teacher here in the US, you will not have to plan on going to Madras often!
Also, there are workshops going on all over the US (the one conducted every year in July/Aug, by the Dhananjayans, for instance), where visiting artistes handle a week long, 10 day or 2 week classes, ranging from "Master", or "Abhinaya" or "Nattuvangam".
