I am Suba Ramesh Parmar, Artistic Director of Shubanjali School of Performing Arts. I am a student and performer of BharataNatyam for the last 25 years and I have been teaching this Magnanimous Art form for well over 12 years in NJ, USA. Based on my personal experiences, this compilation, may be useful for both the teachers and the student community.

During my mid twenties (1992), marriage brought me to this land of plenty, creating a mild setback in my busy performance schedules in India. But opportunity comes to the ones who constantly seek them. My perseverance, patience, passion and dedication, helped me find my niche, and today as a teacher and performer, this organization has weathered many storms, grown gracefully and it stands as one of the foremost dance institutions in learning BharataNatyam in NJ, teaching the Pandanallur style of BharataNatyam, and has consistently staged noteworthy productions, won numerous awards and honors in prestigious events and competitions around the tri-state.

Here are some valuable advice that may be useful when climbing the ladders of success:
Respect for the Art and Respect for the teacher and taught is crucial. Success comes with building a strong ethical foundation based on mutual respect and moral character.
When learning from a different teacher other than your guru - it is important to be honest with your true intentions. It is easy to play politics and balk on someone else's glory. So a good student, gives Art the highest priority, and not take advantage of the new environment or teacher to benefit their selfish motives. Such shallow intentions will be exposed in no time. Have a noble goal (even if you are not able to accomplish it right away), that will weed out any selfish motives, and keep your heart and mind open to new people and ideas that may support your goal. Your current guru and all your future gurus will be proud of your accomplishments and help you.
Be compassionate and sensitive to your present setting. You are put into the present situation for a reason. Understand, and build your life from there. You'll achieve more success that way, than having unrealistic expectations.
There is always a disciplining period...where your mind and body has to go through the disciplining process. Don't escape it. Otherwise you've missed the best part of life. When you come out of it, there is already an aura of success around you. You show a great sense of calm and balance and climbing the higher ladders of success is just a matter of time. When life gets tough..think of it as a disciplining process, and face it. You'll be surprised how well you can handle it.
Never, EVER put down someone who has helped you (even a little bit) for your selfish reasons. The consequences come back multiplied.
Always ask before you offer help. Don't force your help on them. Remember, When you help, it is you who is being helped first.
Look around and analyze great organizations. They are built on talent and integrity. If one of it is missing, you have to evaluate your goals again.
Also, avoid using the free public media for personal publicity. This is a sacred place to share valuable ideas, and not a trash can.
