 I have been surfing the internet and have seen much written about Indian Dancing, very few give credit though to those great women whose courage and sacrifice has preserved for us what time and imperialistic cultures would have erased forever. The Temple dancers of India (called Devadasis or Maharis). I am a classical dancer from childhood and am deeply grateful to the women who bore so much stigma to give us the precious dance form.

I have investigated the institution of the Women of the Temple and put up pictures and write-ups at;
