Oflate, the Bharathanatyam hair style is getting modernized. Dancers have changed and are not using the traditional hair braids unless they are going in for Arangettam or a competition. I have seen many qualified dancers using a simple bun and tying the hair around it without the usual long hair braid which was traditional.

Many dancers are even using the dance practice saree, matching blouse and pyjama for stage shows with very little make up and simple ornaments. What is important is the quality of the dance. Generally the audience want quality, not the unwanted traditional expensive attire with mediocore dance.

Don't worry about the traditional approach in dressing, provide high quality dance.
