 Hi Everyone.

Firstly I wanna thank you Vinod II, for your encouraging words.

I have been practicing daily. Taking a days break in between whenever my knees start to talk. J Well, I usually run through all my 5 items (with the song) in the following order. I’ve also rated the level of difficulty to me…

1. Parashakti.
A kirthanai of amman, balanced with abhinaya Difficulty level – 4/10

2. Alarippu
The mulumandi…its challenging but I see so much of improvement after practicing daily…its very reassuring! Difficulty level – 3/10

3. Pushpanjali
Some of the postures are difficult to hold eg garuda with arms overhead. Last bit is very fast and long. Dificultly level – 5/10

4. Agni Santhi Gauthuvam
Difficulty level – 7/10

5. Swara Jathi
Difficulty level 10/10

After practicing these (with breaks because sometimes I just can’t keep up with the song) Then I practice one item, usually parashakti because it’s a latest item I learnt. However I find that by the time I run through the 5 items I am panting and really exhausted. My initial aim was to increase my stamina but I find myself trying my best to keep up with the speed by rushing thru the items in a mess. I thought that as days pass I’d be able to complete the items without feeling as tired. Then I could focus on the stuff like firmness of my movements (aluttamm / anga suttham) Am I going on the right track?

I know it will take more than just a few weeks to see results. By practicing in this manner however I feel more tired and at the end of the day I don’t find myself polishing up my items. I don’t want to build up stamina at the expense of the quality of my dance, What can I do?

Do you think it is more effective to practice one item a day? But my main goal is to increase stamina. How can I improve the way I practice so that my sessions are more worthwhile? Any suggestions guys??
