Chennai will be the best place to learn Bharathanatyam. They have different styles -Pandanallur and Vazhur. Check the style that you are learning now and go for a guru who is good. In Chennai you will get lot of opportunities for actually seeing good programs. Also Kalakshetra the famous dance school is in Chennai. May be you should check up with them whether they teach a new student like yourself.

Food and accommodation will be cheap in Chennai. But the climate can be harsh - too hot for a European!
