The diversity of performances is refreshing during the season. From what I understand, a young singer and a young dancer both have to make the same kind of rounds until they generate some audience appeal. There are many avenues these days such as Mylapore Times festival, Natyanjali fests to name a few where new and young performers get a chance. They also get decent coverage via photo galleries on websites and reviews written and these are third party websites which have no agenda of any kind. They also get covered in mainstream Indian papers. Maybe the length of coverage may not be long but it's a start
anyways. Musicians do have an advantage as they can perform at weddings and other functions and start building an audience base. The future of dance is only getting better..there are also television shows like thaka dimi tha and for all the skeptics..there are dancers who have been slowly making it big with no
god parent looking out for them like budding singers..
you just have to be persistent and keep an eye out for opportunities...and it's a tough walk for any budding artiste..not just dancers..
