The purpose of my comment was to help dancers who take on performing projects and then feel like they did not make enough money...i humbly suggest that they select and find rewarding projects - either financially, emotionally, spiritually etc. and be clear about the goal. It is my opinion that we should think through the purpose of the performance before accepting it and then give it all we have got... otherwise, we are not going to be spending our time gainfully and the whole experience will not be pleasant...In the process, it could harm our career more than doing good to it... i hope the dancers who have gone through this experience find my suggestion sensible..

why exactly do dancers want to give tours in the USA? Are they trying to promote Bharatanatyam? Or entertain the NRIs? Or win accolades internationally or feel that spiritual experience different from what it is in India or get paid good sums of money? I am no judge of what is right... whatever works for the dancer and their audience.. better to have the goal clear and go after it... just a thought that even after a US tour, you may feel that you put in more work than the reward...

best wishes!
