Yeah, I think we can find the similarity between sadir and kathak here. Both began as temple dances, then got linked to prostitution (thanks to British. some Mughal rulers - I dont know who was the cause in Sadir's case). And then, both were revived. But since Bharatanatyam is invariably linked to Carnatic music, I guess the orthodox families' involvement came in then. This is just a hypothesis. In the case of Kathak, the revival was by men of the court itself who were poets.
