i would agree with you that there is bhraminification of the art and may be that was the need of the time when dancing was considered immoral... but whether you are bramin or not, i think there is something special you need in order to commercially succeed in this field. Further, whether bramins handle the art or not, it is changing everyday...

Pl. see http://www.tapasyaks.com. this is a group trying to preserve the art in the form that as it was when hereditary dancers taught and performed it. Soulful, without artificiality, meditative, without reservation abhinayam, at the same time not vulgar, innocent, non competitive... in another angle - unknown to most of the public, non commercial activity, requires patience and right attitude to learn, cannot film and make DVDs freely of the age old traditional compositions for fame and money...
