Anita Ratnam presented her newest solo work NEELAM: DROWNING IN BLISS, an evocation through movement and melody of Sri Vaishnava shrines and their stories, for Krishna Gana Sabha on December 30, 2006.

"What a visual, aural and spiritual treat on Vaikunta Ekadasi day!" said Bharatanatyam dancer Priya Murle.

The selection of compositions is drawn from ritual and temple texts in praise of Lord Vishnu. The first SRIMAL, the dance of Vishnu, extols the numerous forms of the Tamizh God Nambi. The next item SRI ANDAL: THE CHANT OF GODA was performed to excerpts from Nachiyar Tirumozhi and chants by Revathy Sankkaran and Pradeep Chakravarthy. The third item was PRIYE CHARUSHEELE: THE HUMBLED KRISHNA, from Jayadeva's most celebrated 12th century lyrical poem Gita Govinda and sung by OS Arun.

With sound design by Anil Srinivasan and sung by Sikkil Gurucharan, the final piece NEELAM draws inspiration from the famous Muthuswamy Dikshitar song RANGA PURA VIHARA, a eulogy of Sri Vishnu at Srirangam.

The concept and choreography is by Anita Ratnam and Hari Krishnan (inDance, Canada) is the choreographic consultant. Other credits include costume and visual design by Rex and lighting by Victor Paulraj.
