When Ashok Kumar visited the Ramana School for the Blind in Bangalore some 15 years ago, the students wanted to know if they could learn to dance. From the enthusiasm of the students grew the Natyanjali dance school for the blind under the guidance of Ashok Kumar. The blind students of Natyanjali have given many performances and won several awards from the State and Central Governments apart from pursuing their careers in other fields.

Kathak maestro Birju Maharaj has choreographed a dance number for Sanjay Leela Bansali's film Devadas.

Yamini Krishnamurthy has written a biographical account of her evolution as a dancer in 1996 called A PASSION FOR DANCE. She is now writing a sequel to that which may be released in the coming year.

Kuchipudi exponent Swapnasundari who has trained in Carnatic music has cut a CD with Music Today called Bhama Kalapam.
