Daniel Singh and the dancers had a great opportunity working with Rama
Vaidyanathan at the workshop conducted by her in the second week of
April 2014 at Washington DC. Daniel spoke about how wonderful it was to
learn some of the unique adavus that both Rama and her gurus Yamini
Krishnamurthy and Saroja Vaidyanathan had adapted and personalized. The
dancers spent four days working on Shivoham, a dance Daniel saw many
years ago, the first time he saw Rama performing at Kalakshetra. It was
a sweet moment when Daniel's dream to learn the piece came full
circle--much like the way the devotee in Shivoham does--arriving at the
place of beginning after a long journey to rediscover the self.
